review of Juliana Mullan's poetry and writing. Author of 2 books

1st book         'Life's Pathway of Experiences, Emotions & Inspirations

Juliana  is one of the most inspirational poets , whose work I have had the pleasure of reading.

I first met her at the Barmera Street Market, and as I browsed through her verse, I was rapt.

We developed a warm friendship, and I hold her in high esteem. She is one very special lady

and her poems are an inspiration to everyone who reads them.

Her verse covers a wide range of emotions and experiences, which other people can relate to,

having shared similar experiences at some stage in their life.

Juliana is very spiritual, and this comes through in her work. She gives  hope to the downhearted

and encouragement to those who want to extend their boundaries.

Her verse is very uplifting and her book is a wonderful inspirational read.

           2nd book           Women ARE Survivors

The MurrayLands Domestic Violence Service serves the Riverland and Murray Mallee region of South Australia. We assist women and children experiencing domestic violence with extensive support and

supported accommodation. We first met Juliana assisting one of our clients with day to day living skills.

Our client had great needs and Juliana seemed to have an extra layer of empathy, caring and understanding that not many people in the wider community possess when dealing with domestic violence.

Then one day Juliana came in to show us a poem she had written about domestic violence. It was obvious to us that Juliana possessed a talent that should be further explored. Fortunately, Juliana continued her writing and has come to realise this, her second book of inspirational poems.

Having more than 25years experience we have learnt that words can have a devastating affect on a person's mind and body. Domestic violence is not a one off event. It is a pattern of abuse that occurs over and over again during an intimate relationship. One uses verbal abuse as a tool to degrade and humiliate the other lowering their self esteem and confidence to the point that they feel useless and powerless. Words are powerful and women say that the bruises and broken bones will heal but the effect words stay forever. Juliana understands this and through her words we will see women encouraged and spirits uplifted.
